Senior EE Systems Architecture Engineer required for one of the world’s leading players involved in the development of the next generation of fully electric and hybrid vehicles.

Due to the global interest in their range of luxury vehicles they are currently embarking on a large number of talent acquisition programs at their Los Angeles based facility.

The Senior Engineer – EE Systems Architecture is responsible for working on the current and new vehicle electrical and electronic architectures (EEA) for Karma vehicle programs. Duties include utilizing the latest technology and tools to develop EEA architectures, benchmarking competitor vehicle and platform for optimized solutions, ensuring the vehicle systems and components meet customers’ expectation and regulatory requirements, and providing technical direction over other engineers and suppliers for vehicle electrical systems design, architecture, and requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Design vehicle electrical architecture based on customer expectation and market trend.
  • Coordinate all engineer teams, laboratory, and suppliers to optimize the vehicle systems performance, efficiency, and lessons learned.
  • Design, update, and manage vehicle CAN interface and its database.
  • Manage PREEVision tool for modeling future vehicle platform and skateboard platform.
  • Make sure the vehicle electrical systems meet ISO26262 vehicle function safety requirements.
  • Study and research on new technologies and involve in early phase of vehicle design and development.
  • Evaluate and recommend options consistent with industry best practices.
  • Lead a team to write, update, maintain, and approve electrical system design, sub-system requirements, and FRDs from other departments.
  • Coordinate all engineer teams and suppliers to implement the vehicle or electrical systems/components architecture and CAN/LIN database.
  • Lead the EE Architecture Committee to review and approve new features, issue resolutions, and system integration.
  • Study and research on new technologies and involve in early phase of vehicle design and development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (MS or higher degree is prefer) in Electrical Engineering, or a related field of study.
  • Knowledge in automotive vehicle mechanical and electrical system architectures, including vehicle BUS communications (CAN, CAN-FD/LIN).
  • Must display ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and negotiate and execute contingency plans.
  • Knowledge in microprocessor, automotive ECU, electrical/electronic hardware, and embedded software.
  • Proficiency on ISO 26262 and other vehicle regulatory requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of systems engineering principles and hardware and software design concepts.
  • Demonstrate hands on experience with vehicle system architectures and control systems. Experience with lab test equipment including oscilloscope, receivers, spectrum analysers, generators, amplifiers, and antennas.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork skills and solve issues by developing consensus and win-win situations.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental Management Systems (ISO 14001:2015), as applicable.
