Senior Design Release Engineer – Mechanical HV Battery required for one of the world’s leading players involved in the development of the next generation of fully electric and hybrid vehicles.

Due to the global interest in their range of luxury vehicles they are currently embarking on a large number of talent acquisition programs at their Los Angeles based facility.

The Sr. DRE – Mechanical HV Battery will be a key member of the battery structure design team enabling the development and delivery of the HV battery packs, responsible for pack structure and thermal system design, design validation and final design release.


  • Lead product development for mechanical components starting at concept development – generate requirements, scope definition, cost estimation, and feasibility studies
  • Part and assembly model and drawing development of all mechanical components, including GD&T
  • Design and release of the HV Battery pack ; Create 3D and 2D drawings of HV battery pack assemblies and components, including wire assemblies
  • Selecting and sourcing mechanical & thermal components for HV battery system
  • Work with supply chain and supplier quality to ensure parts are delivered on time, with quality, by ensuring the appropriate engineering analyses and tests are completed
  • Support CAE and validation to ensure design quality meets performance specifications
  • Design for manufacturing
  • Complete risk/hazard reviews utilizing DFMEA and PFMEAs
  • Understand budget constraints as part of design development
  • Lead and coordinate the resources to build and deliver the prototype battery pack on time and on target. 
  • Support program manager in project planning and tracking.


  • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 6+ years of automotive design experience
  • CATIA V5 and SmarTeam Knowledge/Skills Required
  • Knowledge of various materials, alternative fixing and joining technologies, and applying those into a design as appropriate. DFM/DFA skills essential.
  • Experience on Li-ion battery cell, module and pack design
  • Experience working with suppliers
  • Must display ability to identify problems, recommend solutions, and execute contingency plans
  • Background in automotive system and component engineering.
  • Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle powertrain and interface between systems/components.
  • Basic knowledge of Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001:2015) and Environmental


  • Background of the automotive HV battery system and component engineering.
  • Project experience with Battery system test and validation
  • familiar with various CAE methods and results interpretation: Mold Flow, Stress-Strain, Dynamic
  • Knowledge of electric and hybrid vehicle powertrain and interface between systems/components.
